Useless Characters

When playing Final Fantasy 6, I rarely use the characters that enter your party later on in the game.. I really hate Strago and Relm, and the 'secret' characters aren't anything special either, in my opinion. I use Locke, Celes, Sabin, Edgar and Terra mostly, and the others... well... I keep em trained, learn them to use Espers, and I also keep em well-equipped, but when on a mission or a task, I always leave them behind. I'm probably missing some nice dialogues because of this, but meh.. They suck, in my opinion. That sketchy thing Relm does just blows. And I really can't be arsed to take Gau to the Veldt to learn every friggin Rage he can. And Cyan....?

Sheesh.

Anyway, I don't have this in other FF games, just 6. But I still think it's the best FF there is. Weird. Anyone else has the same thing?

My parties usually consist of Cyan, Edgar, Celes, Setzer, Umaro, GoGo, and Shadow.

But I generally just pick who I think is the coolest at the time.

Yeah, I pretty much agree. I'm not much of a magic person, I like to use brute attack. So I tend to use the characters like Sabin, Locke, Cyan, etc. Shadow rocks, but I can never seem to keep him for very long. And I do find Strago and Relm to be useless in battle, for the most part.

In my opinion, FF6 is the best one, probably because it's the first I ever played. I'm guilty of character bias in every game of the series, though.

Oh come on. That whole flower and letter thing was too emberrasing for words. I squinted my eyes and tightened my butthole through the whole scene. Ugh.

Forgot about Setzer. I never use him either. I only befriended the gambling-addict for his neat airship. He's got a kickass outfit, though.

Don't underestimate the power of Cyan man, his swrdtechs are very powerful, and even his normal attacks are strong too. If you can't take a little mushy video game love, then don't play RPG's. Setzer can be rather powerful too, especially with the fixed dice, or doom darts. GP Rain also does a crap load of damage. As for Strago and Relm, they are really meant to work as a pair i think. It is almost impossible to learn all of Strago's Lores with out the help of Relm's Control power. Once Strago does get all of his Lores, he becomes quite a powerful spell caster, and Relm actually has more magic power then Terra. I know everyone argues that Terra can Morph and get double the strength and magic power, but not usualy double the damage, because of that damn 9999 damage limit. Really all of the Characters have their own little advantage. I personally prefer Locke, Celes, Shadow and Umaro in my party.

SwdTechs suck. While you're waiting for a DECENT SwdTech, the enemies are beating up on you because it takes so goddamn long to get one of them.

Cyan and Setzer were really the only characters I never found myself using.

(SPOILER)after you get Cyan to join your party in the WOR, go back to Mt. ZoZo with him in your party (you don't have to but it'll be funny). Go to the peak where you found him and there'll be a key. pick it up, then go back to the chest you couldn't open before. open it and you'll find a machinery manual, which Cyan has been reading so he won't be afraid of machines...then you'll find a porn magazine. Cyan will jump out and say "hey that's mine!"

I don't think it is... then again, it's been years. I can't remember. He DID turn down that bimbo in Nikeah, so I didn't think he was the type. Caught me off-guard to read that... I FIGURED it was a different version.

But anyway, Cyan isn't a dweeb. He has some pretty cool SwordTechs; I like to use him in battle. So the flowers and letter thing was a bit cheesy -- just humor the man, he's grieving.

It's only in the Japanese version. It was one of many sexual innuendos that was removed from the American version of the game at Nintendo of America's insistance.

If you want to use a SwdTech, just get everyone else to attack before Cyan, so when they are attacking, you will have plenty of time to power up for whatever SwdTech skill you want to use.

As for the most useless characters, I usually never use Sttago, Relm, Gau, and Setzer; usually only when I have to, or when I'm trying to level up everybody.

My main party usually consists of Terra, Sabin, Shadow, and Umaru.

By the time everyone else is done attacking, the first person who attacked is almost ready to attack again. At least that's the way it works in my party, with all the Speed bonuses I give my characters (odin rox np). No matter how you slice it, SwdTech is a waste of time for me.

I almost never use Strago and Relm. I have no use for them. And I only use Cyan and Setzer when I have to.
