Weird room in temple of fiends...

I had lighted all the orbs and traveled back trough time (to level up a bit). The way downwards (towards Chaos, I mean) is to the right, of course. But when I went right, I found another stair! (screenshot 1)

When I walked down, I found a big room. (screenshot 2), and at the end of it, an altar! (screensot 2). When I checked it, it said "nothing there" as usual. What is this room? Has anyone else seen it?

I would be scared as to what kind of parties a being of immense chaos and ultimate descruction would throw. I mean what kind of party games would he have? Truth or Death?

No, I don't think Chaos has any tentacles. He probably gave the innocent young maidens (and innocent Japanese schoolgirls) to Kraken.
