How does he know about Cloud dropping out of SOLDIER if he never was in SOLDIER in the first place?

How does Cloud know Reno (Sector 5 church)? Reno doesn't seem to know Cloud (though he seems to know Zack when he says "Hey sis, this one's a little weird" to Aeris). Actually, I guess Cloud would know of the Turks, if he worked in Shinra... so never mind. I should delete this. BA-LEETED!

Shinra had plenty of intelligence about AVALANCHE's activities and members, they'd undoubtedly heard, from someone in the slums, that there was someone caliming to be an ex-SOLDIER working with AVALANCHE. President Shinra saw Cloud's uniform, then made the connection.

Cloud knew that Reno was a member of the Turks, because of his sinister demeanor and distinctive clothing. Blue suit, white shirt, red tie. Stands out pretty well. The Turks had been after Aeris for a while, so Reno might very well have known Aeris. He was probably trying to convince her that Cloud was weird (now there's a tough job) in order to encourage her to join him, or to throw her off guard for long enough to capture her.

It also seems that Tseng (the leader of the Turks) and Aeris have a history (refer to Elmyra's story at Aeris' house and the scene at the Temple of the Ancients), so it would make sense for the lesser minions of the organisation to know of her existence.

that probably meant that Shinra knew almost everyone he employed...but he didn't bother to remember their names unless they were in First-Class or something.

More really minor questions...

How the heck did that waterfall behind Aeris's house get there? At first I wondered how her house could get light, being under the rotting pizza and all, but it looks like the light comes from the water or something. Is it Mako?

If I remember right, that section is still under construction, so the plate above isnt totally finished. I think.

Sector 6 is the unfinished sector. Sector 5, where Aeris's house is, should be complete. But come on, it's Aeris. Her yard would be bright and lush if it were at the bottom of the cave.
