Yeah, I've found that mimicing site staff is the best.
I even almost had eternalshiva's husband send me a PM because he looked at the theme and not the user name when he clicked the PM icon under one of my posts, but he realized it before he sent it.
what would be really scary is if I were arsed to complete a section for the site and therefore became Site Staff before Mimic changes his profile. xD
