    Default Kerry's VP?

Ok, looks like John Kerry is the presidential candidate for the Democrats. Now, the question is, who should be his running mate? Most people would prefer to see John Edwards as his running mate, but Edwards dismissed the though. Dean would be accepable, seeing that he now accepts the idea. Virginia's goveror, Mark Warner, has also been suggested, and then there's word that Arizona's Republican Senator, John McCain would accept if Kerry asked him to be a running mate. Heh, but he dismissed it.

Anyway, now we have that, who do you think will be the best choice as Kerry's running mate?

I think John Edwards will be the best choice, seeing that he's a Southerner and plenty of people like him for his positive politics.

Apparently, I have been declared banished.

Dude, I would be the best choice by far.

Actually I agree that Edwards is a good choice. Dean is okay, but Kerry needs a charismatic VP to help his bid.

McCain would be an interesting choice. I like McCain quite a bit. Max Cleland is another good choice. Dean would be a better cabinet member I think, to be used to work on health care reform.

Wow, that would be awesome if McCain were his running mate.

Edwards or McCain are my votes. Edwards can help in the south and McCain can help with those that are middle of the road and can see they may get the best of both worlds by voting for Kerry(seeing as how McCain is a republican....at least I think he is).

yea McCain is a republican but he is very opposed to Bush. He's also the kind of Republican who puts thought into his stances and doesn't just tote the party line.

Hah, yeah, McCain's great on a good portion of issues that are important to me. I'd vote for him over most Dems, to tell the truth.

Speaking of Cleland, does anyone remember hearing about the ads Saxby Chambliss ran against him? Something along the lines of suggesting an alliance with bin Laden on the part of Cleland. Cleland, being a triple-amputee as a result of fighting for his country is last person who should have his patriotism and dedication to American questioned. He'd be a good running mate for Kerry; a good way to shut up prominent Republicans known for warhawking and a lack of military enlistment.

Vice presidents don't matter in terms of the election. Not nearly as much as the President anyways. So long as they pick someone "acceptable" I think they're forgotten about.

Don't know if this is true, but I was told that Bush I choose Dan Quayle for his VP because he resembled Robert Redford and hoped this would lead to more female votes....

If Kerry really, truly wants to win, you have to take either Edwards or McCain. I think McCain would be a better choice because he actually backs up his opinions with values, not just because his party says they should follow it, as others have alluded to.

However, if you are using VP just to get more votes, as Bush I did, then I'd take Edwards because he appeals to a different range of voters than Kerry or McCain. They both would draw A LOT of the veterans in the country, but Edwards would probably help Kerry carry more of the South.

We'll have to wait and see. Just a few more months until the Conventions...

Also to throw out there, what do you think will happen of Bush replaces Cheney with Rudy Giuliani, as I've been hearing more and more lately.....?

    Take care all.

I heard Cheney say in an interview that Bush already asked him to run again, and he said yes. This was about a week ago.

I heard that a semi-common strategy is for a candidate to pick a single state they think is important but which they predict they'll lose by a small margin, and to pick a VP from that state so you have a really good chance of winning it. Like getting a whole state's worth of votes for free. Pretty slimey.

Then, Kerry's running mate would have to be...... Jeb Bush, so that he CAN'T LOSE FLORIDA!

    Take care all.
