the peice of the boss you get to keep isnt actually said its a part of the boss, but being what the boss is you can assume that it was ment to be a part of the boss.

It's gotta be Riku- you fight him as three when you get to Hollow Bastion, then you fight him again without Donald and Goofy at the Keyhole. Not to mention the fact that you can't tell if he's good or bad anymore and if he's really Riku or if Ansem's controlling him.
