I do that but it's usually when I'm in a deep sleep. I feel liek I just fell 30 feet.

I've had that happen. It's odd.

I sometimes feel suddenly awake when I'm close to sleep, but it doesn't really feel like anything weird... Just me waking up for some reason.

I used to get that when I was younger, most of the time I would either think I fell and hit the ground or something hit me in the face. I haven't had that happen in a while now though so I guess that's done with.

That happens to me on occasion, Joel. It's kind of creepy, but I don't think it's a serious problem or anything.

I've had that happen. As a matter of fact, it happened at school once when I almost fell asleep in class. Luckily no one noticed.

Sometimes it happens. I attribute it to me just not being tired in the first place

Happens to me very rarely, it's a cool experience.

It's neither rare nor dangerous, you have nothing to worry about. I don't remember why it happens more often sometimes and in some people, but there's some kind of psychological/physiological basis - perhaps to do with how deeply you're sleeping, how relaxed you are, something like that.
