FFXI was made way before teh 9800 XT came out. Of coarse it will work, but I don't know why you'd want to waste your money on that card right now, seeing as NO game needs that much power and the memory for them cards (256mb) isn't the best memory and can even cause a slow down. But yeah, you can actually play the game with any graphics card that's over 64mb.
