Thread: The Time Limits

    Default The Time Limits

Just a quick question, its my second time through the game and I am just at the missile base, and I know there is another timed part coming up.

My question is, what are the bonus' (if any) of choosing the smallest time over the largest one?

This applies to the Ifrit time limit as well, I was just wondering as I always pick the lowest time.

    Thanx

chaos: Truly, I am not sure if there is a bonus or not, rather, choosing a smaller time limit means that you might want to taste more of a challenge, readying yourself for the harder parts of FFVIII.

Rubedo: Although, someone may prove me wrong. I'm not too sure myself.

It's all related to SeeD rank. In the Ifrit timed challenge, the less time you have remaining when you beat him, the better your SeeD rank becomes. For the Dollet exam when you're running back to the shore, the faster the better your rank. For the Timber Owls train mission, time doesn't play into it but if you do it without failing and choosing to try again, you'll get plus one to your SeeD rank.

For the missile base, I've found if you select 20 mins, your SeeD rank goes up one once you beat the Iron Clad. I've also discovered that not using GF (throughout the game) gets your SeeD rank nice and high and less prone to dropping. I don't know what happens if you pick 10 mins though.

If you pick ten minutes at the Missle Base, then the door right next to the self-destruct panel opens, and you can go right out. But if you pick 20 minutes, then you have to run all the way around and still beat the Iron Clad, I guess that makes your SeeD rank go up, I've never heard of that one before though. I thought your SeeD rank went up if you go through the whole Missle Base without getting caught until the very end. Maybe it goes up again if you pick 20 mintues, coolness.

By choosing 10 minutes, a door will be unlocked and your SeeD rank will go up by 2

If you chose 20 the door is open, if you choose 10 I think the boss is a little easier.

choose 10. The door will be open so just whoop on iron clad, since you played this before you should have good junctions. using summons does not bring your rank down, but if you are timed do not summon it takes way too long. time stops after you beet iron clad and the other galbadian soldiers within it.
I don't know how to dance.
