still, you'd need an NTSC ps one as well. This looks more pricey by the minute.....hence the lack of players.

Xenogears does have one of the most intricate storylines ever, but the second disk is ridiculously crappy. Video games are an entirely different medium of storytelling, an interactive one, and that is not what the second disk of Xenogears is.
So let me recap: Second disk of Xenogears sucks balls. Which brings down the game overall. Which doesn't make it one of the best games ever. But still one of the better storylines I've seen.
I personally don't give a damn about the Xenosaga storyline from what I've played and seen so far. The Xenogears line is far more interesting. However, I don't think it is necessary to create prequels or sequels in the form of a video game to Xenogears, because I believe the game does well to speak of past events on its own. Although it could do a lot better, that is for sure.
I completely agree (as my screenname might suggest I would); every RPG fan should give Xenogears a try. It has the most complex and amazing story I have ever seen in a video game, even though the second disc felt rushed. Playing it was like reading a really good - and interactive - book that you just can't put down.
To people who have not bought it: BUY IT NOW.
You have to take into consideration that the second disk was the way it was because of budget cuts and what I mentioned in my first post. I would say that even though a lot of things seemed unclear and difficult to understand the first play through of the second disk, as you play it a third and fourth time, things start to become more clear and you'll start appreciating the second disk for all that it could be.Originally Posted by princeofdarknez
I really hope that if Xenosaga does indeed attempt to flesh out the entire story, that they'll be able to completely tell what Xenogears started and then some.
Take care all.
this just isnt fair. i hear such good things about xenogears, chrono trigger, chronocross, terraenigma, final fantasy tactics etc and does any of this get a uk release??? and yet i suffer crap like the bouncer, vagrant story and kingdom hearts.
meh ignore me, i,m delirious from uni work.(dont forget to shout, "dont worry, we will")
" Redeem me into childhood. Show me myself without the shell" Nightwish- Ghost Love Score.
" Everything is Clearer now. Life is just a dream you know, thats never ending...i,m ascending". Cowboy Bebop- Blue
" Noriko...Kazumi...When you return i,ll be there to say...Welcome Home" Jung- Gunbuster
"...Shut up. The cycle of nature and your stupid plan don't mean
a thing. Aeris is gone. Aeris will no longer talk, no longer laugh,
cry...... or get angry...... What about us...... what are WE supposed
to do? What about my pain? My fingers are tingling. My mouth is dry. My
eyes are burning!" Cloud- FF7
Actually, Terranigma saw Japanese and PAL releases, but didn't make it to the US.

Hey, I'm not gonna blame the production staff for the subparness of the second disk - I'm all too aware they were undermined by the FFVIII project, which was supposed to be more of a moneymaker (And... it was.) . However, the second disk is what it is, regardless of whether there were budget cuts or not. It's pretty clear what is going on in the second disk (either that, or I've played it too many times) - the only real problem is the lack of user interaction. Which is what video games are all about. So I repeat, the second disk is what it is, regardless of the reasons that made it so. I mean, the average end user isn't going to care why s/he is pressing X for 30 minutes reading through text. S/he could simply read Xenogears: The Book. (That might be interesting...)
You know how you can talk to people in the States and Japan through the Internet? You can buy from them too.this just isnt fair. i hear such good things about xenogears, chrono trigger, chronocross, terraenigma, final fantasy tactics etc and does any of this get a uk release??? and yet i suffer crap like the bouncer, vagrant story and kingdom hearts.Usually cheaper, may I add, because they'll be selling their copies used and stuff. Or in Chrono Trigger's case, you can get a ROM and a corresponding emu from the internet.
Xenogears was definently one of the best Video Games I had ever played, and is only behind Super Mario RPG.
The characters, like Fei were very detailed, and had different backrounds, that made you interested.
The game was so action packed and suspensful, it wasn't even funny. (i.e. The ending of disc one)
Graphic wise I say it's an okay game, but graphics aren't always everything.
A LOT more peopleshould play it. Play it even more than they play Final Fantasy. This is probably the best damn RPG ever!
I... I can't believe I'm the only one that thought that Xenogears was only decent... I started playing and thought, "Wow, this is an amazing game. It's greatness rivals the greatness of FFVII." After a while, I got kinda bored of it, but I kept my hopes up and kept thinking that a climax would pop out of nowhere. Hours later, I realized that I was deceived, took the disc out of the PS2, popped it back into the case, then left it on the counter to collect dust.
Sorry, guys, but it was too repetitive. I couldn't hold on any longer and the music certainly didn't help. I don't mean to sound harsh, but that game was a waste of $15.99.
:monster2: One, AH! AH! Two, AH AH! Three, AH AH!
it does look like a very good game, `cause i'm definitley a person who goes for the STORY in rpgs, and lengthy cutscenes wouldn't bother me one bit. i think that's cool. the only reason i haven't bouht it yet is because i haven't seen it anywhere, and my experiences with ordering things online haven't been good, so i don't want to do that. i might have to though, if things don't look up soon. I've heard so many good things aboutt he game, i don't want to miss out. and i want to play xenosaga.

Lufia was, is, and always will be better than Xenogears
Because killing the Sinistrals over and over and over and over again isn't tedious.Lufia was, is, and always will be better than Xenogears
As far as Xenogears being only decent, I can't see what you didn't like about it. The story was excellent, the gameplay was really good, and who doesn't love large fighting robots? The depth of the game was amazing, I like how Fei is (SPOILER)A Freudian complex and how intricately woven the plot is overall.
