New FF Character

Square Enix's upcoming PlayStation 2 Kingdom Hearts sequels resurfaced in the pages of Shonen Jump this week, with a few new details popping up concerning both Kingdom Hearts 2. In a none-too-surprising turn, Square has rolled out some characters from its own library to guest star alongside Disney's famous creations.

Specifically, Kingdom Hearts 2 features another Final Fantasy X holdover -- Auron, the mostly-dead spectacled swordsman, shows up looking much like he did in his first appearance. Unlike the more childlike Final Fantasy characters in the original Kingdom Hearts, a properly-proportioned Auron suits the sequel's style fairly well.

On the Disney side, Hercules and his lady love Megara are making a return appearance and a first appearance, respectively, and the Beast (as in "Beauty and the...") is also getting some more screen time to make up for his brief appearance in the original.

Though it submerged shortly after its Tokyo Game Show debut, Kingdom Hearts 2 looks ready to reappear at E3, and the Game Boy Advance sequel Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories is evidently still on track for release in Japan this summer. Look forward to more details from Square Enix's pre-E3 event in May.

That's really neat news. I was hoping Beast would pop up in the sequel, but I didn't think he would after seeing him in the first KH. Nifty stuff. =D

Yay, Auron. It just makes me wonder what else they would put in. It'd be kinda intresting to see some of the more serious characters appear in the game.
