Default Drives don't appear in Nero

I'm having mucho problems with Nero. I reinstalled it, and none of my drives appear. I have a DVD Rom drive and a DVD+/-RW, but only "Image Recorder" shows up. When I go to "Choose a Recorder", all I can choose is Image Recorder. Nothing else shows up.

    *sigh*

Buggered if I didn't have that EXACT problem a couple years ago, but I can't remember how to fix it.

I'm pretty sure it's a Nero problem and not a Windows problem or a hardware problem, though; you should still be able to burn CDs with other tools, such as XPee's built-in burning functionality (which I've never tried, preferring Nero)

Perhaps the drive is too new for Nero - I know some CD burning software doesn't like too new drives and so need upgrading. Or you might need to install an ASPI layer too - you can get ASPI drivers from http://download.com.com/3000-2098-10161912.html - ignore the negative comments, 3 users with a bad experience is quite overwhelmed by the 200,000+ downloads of people that didn't have a complaint if you think about it

Damn, you know I installed what Endless suggested (XP, btw) and nothing fixed. Same with Guu.

Bleys - Indeed, I can burn cds/dvds with other tools, but Nero has a nifty VCD conversion that works nicely, and I wanted to transfer some AVI's onto vcd dvds. Anyonw know how to do that without Nero?

I always use NeroVision Express to make video DVDs, so no

MyDVD came bundled with my burner, but it's crap and it works 1% of the time.

I have a way around, then. Use the Image recorder to make an image of the vcd/dvd. Then use Daemon-Tools (or install Nero's DriveImage) to mount the image, and any other burning program (DiskJuggler, Alcohol 120%, ...) to copy the virtual disk to a burned vcd/dvd.

    And then there is Death
