Chatting with Linux

Does anyone know of a good chat client for Linux?

I didn't know if there are any programs that emulate IRC or such. I'm only running Red Hat 7 and I don't feel like ugrading.

Any suggestions?

Gaim lets you use AIM/YM/ICQ/MSN. xchat is an IRC client I think, it's apparently popular. See also irssi.
