    Default Tonberrys...ugh

    spoilers,im assuming

I happend to be ignorant enough not to grap the Weapons Monthly: First Edition when I went to the Lunitic Pandora(er...that it...?). I know i need the farmilyer ability or some such thing to get it from one of the shops in Esthar, but I dont have King Tonberry. Is there ANY quick/easy/shortcut/cheat that will help me kill the little green blobs?!They are driving me insane.Terrably hard for me.

If you're not that good at junctioning, use Diablos. Otherwise just leave Squall on low health and Renzokuken them.

I say what I think. If you disagree, then that is up to you.

You don't actually need the weapons magazines to get the weapons. If you've got the required items in your inventory, then you can still make the weapons.

That being said, the best way to beat Tonberries is casting Triple on someone, then having that person cast Demi on it three times. Once you knock it down to about 1000-3000 HP, have at it with physical attacks. Another alternative is to use Meltdown to lower its defense, and then hack away with strong physical and magical attacks.

EDIT: Squall, Irvine, and Zell are probably your best bet for a team - they can all get a lot of good hits in quickly with their limit breaks.

It's also worth mentioning that there's no real shortcut to capturing the King Tonberry GF; whatever your approach, it's going to take a while. i don't know that it's insanely difficult per se - DocFrance's approach, for example, is solid and speedy - it's still a decent challenge, so expect to donate some time towards it.

I find that PhoenixAsh's tactic is the best one, that way you don't have to use up magic, which I don't like doing. Diablos works pretty well and Squall can go in for the kill after that.

Diablos is good, too, but the problem is that it can only do 9999 damage. Even at level 1, a Tonberry has *checks gamefaqs* 15,200 HP. So even if you manage to level up Diablos to level 100 (100% HP damage), he can only do 9999 damage. And Diablos isn't exactly a quick summon.

The ruins is the best, if not the only place. Just run around the fountain (or statue I forget) at the beginning, they're all you fight.

Renzokuken is your best bet though, just load your strongest magic onto Squall's strength and knock em down.

    1) Junction 100 Triples to Zell's Str.

    2) Attack Zell to yellow HP.

    3) Limit Break.

    4) Punch Rush, Booya, Punch Rush, Booya, repeat until you win.

Meltdown, followed by Zell/Irvine/Squall limit breaks. Very effective.

I'd like to point out that this tactic is much more efficient than my tactic of boosting your GF to 300 or more. Not to mention boosting hurts your thumbs a lot.

The GF Boost Max is 250, right?

I find the limit break option works the best. Just get Squall and Zell to low HP, keep one person healthy and pound away till the kingie comes to play. It is time consuming, but it's worth it for the tonberry GF.

I definately agree...limit breaks work very well...also Diablos deals 9999 each time so 3 of these should do the trick. Also you can go out and save after each tonberry so if you get killed you won't have to start at 1 tonberry again. Everything I read said you can't save. But you CAN!!!

The Limit Break method is probably the best, but if you're strong enough and don't want to keep pressing buttons during the battles you can use Ifrit's Mad Rush (Berserk, Haste, Protect to all allies). The only problem with this is you need to count how many Tonberrys you've killed. When you reach the 20th Tonberry don't use Mad Rush as you will fight Tonberry King straight after, and he's quite hard to defeat without healing in battle.
