    Default Ragnarok

Yeah, I was wondering which you chose, the esper or the sword? I can't really decide the usefulness and am on my second game. The first time I chose the esper.

I like the esper because it morphs stuff, and I don't really use the fight command. Ragnarok is actually the only esper I use in battle.

I take the Esper, since most of my team does 9999 damage with just about any weapon.

Yup. Eventhough I never use the Esper in battle.

    I alternate each game usually.

It all depends upon if I want to morph enemies or whack them with a really cool sword.

Not to mention the Esper teaches Ultima at a x1 rate.

The sword, however, (SPOILER)can be wagered at the Colosseum to win the Illumina, the most powerful sword in the game.

And you can learn Ultima from the Paladin Shield. So if you're a patient person and don't mind getting the shield before learning Ultima the only decision is whether to be able to morph enemies or have a really powerful sword.

Well, this time I'll probably get the sword, but I never did enjoy the morphing stuff because it'd rarely work and if it did it'd turn things into Tonics which is not so good not really. The best thing I got was a megelixir from morphing something

I think Ragnarok and Illumina converts MP to increase damage. I'm lazy to powerlevel my guys. Sabin was highest at level 90+ but the rest is below 80 =\.

I don't know what 'important' stuff you can get through the Esper. Ultima could be taught by the Paladin Shield too.

Perhaps the reason why I should choose the esper is the stats it gives. Can't remember what it is though so I can't really tell the importance of it.

Ragnorak doesn't give any stat bonuses at level-up.
