Does anyone know where they got the ideas for the pieces?

After the guy who invented Monopoly made the board, he needed pieces for it. So he opened up his childrens' toy chest and found small metal tokens just like our beloved pieces.

Anyway.. I always pick the Dog. Besides the horseman, it's the only one that isn't an inanimate object. The idea of, say, a wheelbarrow being arrested, jailed, and fined startles me.

my sister lost the actual player pieces in our set but I was always the car since then we replaced them with different warhammer models in which case I am always the dark elf or the wood elf piece
