If I bought a used FFXI would I still be able to play? Someone said that the game had to be registered and I was wondering if it could be registered more than once on different computers and with a new account.

When you first sign on to Playonline and FFXI you have to register your keys, so I'm assuming that if you buy a used copy of FFXI that the other person would have to unregister/delete their account for you to be able to play.
I know when I deleted my first character and then created a new one several months later I had to re-enter all of my FFXI keys, so I'm assuming that deleting any content ID's and Playonline ID's associated with those keys will allow another person to use them on another computer and play.
It also depends. Were your content IDs inactive for more than 3 months? If it is, then you need a new game.
So would it be a waste for me to buy a used game?
It all depends on if/how the person you are buying the game from cleaned up their account(s).
blah bunch of noobs...if the vendor is selling a used game findout if it was returned because of the prev. owners computer being to crappy to run it or if it was played registered then returned. If that was the case do not buy a pre-registered game. The pc and ps2 version of the game encrypty themselves to ur machines harddrive. Once u log on the first time and put #'s into squares and playonlines survers the game is useless to neone else. So best advice is too stay away...spend the extra 10-15 dollars more and buy new...
