I had thought about naming my future son Ashley, but I don't know...these days it's predominately a females name. I wouldn't want to give a name that would result in teasing and all that. What do you all think?

[qq=zacks_clone] As far as him having a girls name, i belive Rikku from X has a guys name, for i played KH before i played X...I guess it just depends on your perspetive. Maybe one k means the names masculin [/qq]
[qq=Vann] And in regards that he has a girls name, for one: His name is Riku, not Rikku. And secondly: Rikku's name is actually supposed to be Ryukku. Riku's name did not change from the original Japanese version. [/qq]
[qq=The_Princess] As for his name... Well... Rikku's name was a translation from a different name in Japanese, whereas Riku has always been Riku, as pointed out already. But even still, you can have unisex names, like Sam, Ashley, or Robin, so I don't really think the name makes a difference.[/qq]
ok we have the name thing under control, that was just a fill in reason any way.

thats fine, my (male) friends middle name is ashley, and my mate (male) at school, his name is ashley-but we call him schlef!
but ashley is the male form of he name, ashliegh is the female form
so it'd be ok. i thnk thats a fine name for your future son

Japanese. My dictionary gives the translations for these words as "sky or weather" and "land". However, I find it amusing that blue midget would talk about Riku being a girl's name when Sora also happened to be the name of a female character from Digimon... :O_O:

Anyway, Thanks for all this name info. Now my mind is all messed up inside from thinking everyone in this game is mis-named. @_@
Riku and Rikku mean two completely different things. Rikku means lick and Riku means groundOriginally Posted by The_Princess
Strange that Rikku, the spunky cute girl from ffx and ffx-2 would be named "lick" dont ya think? Also Yuna is a name for women who help people bathe. :mog:
Dirty dirty mind in the gutter video game makers
If you actually think about it, Sora couldn't have saved Kairi without Riku. For it was Riko who found Kairi's body after plunging into the depths of Ansem. The only "evil" Riku was Ansem controlling him.
Besides, Riku was a damn cool boss, and if Sora didn't have all those Curaga spells and potions, he would have been owned by the power of darkness.
The role Riku was given was to be mysterious somewhat. He was given a role where he was compelled by the dakrness and turned evil, that's just his role, theres nothing a weak heart can do about it. Sora had a strong heart and didn't fall like Riku.
Plus Riku is just so awesome. And dude you must be thinking Riku from FFX and FFX-2 because This Riku in the game is awesome.
Everyday I wish that I could be the one, for you...
Unmarked spoilers, beware.
Riku was hardly evil. He delved into darkness to save Kairi. He was so determined to help her that he sacrificed everything, eventually even his body, to the darkness. His rivalry with Sora only made him work harder, especially towards the end, to be the stronger of the two.
He was believable as well, as most of the characters in Kingdom Hearts were. Well, really only Riku and Sora were shown enough to grow as characters, but SE did a good job showing both their growth.
Honestly, Riku was my favorite character in Kingdom Hearts, and I hope he gets a larger role in Kingdom Hearts II as one of the unknowns. He didn't really shine through in Kingdom Hearts until the end. I would have liked to have seen a bit more of his side of the story.
Well; I don't hate Riku, but I did get the feeling he was evil from the very start...
