Hi, fellow English person. Welcome to EoFF.
That little picture is an "Avatar". To get one, go to your "User CP" (by clicking on the link at the top of the screen), and then click on "Edit Avatar". You can either: I) Choose an avatar from the default list, or II) Upload one of your own pictures. Note: If you're using a custom avatar, the dimensions of the picture must be no larger than 60 x 60 pixels, or the board won't allow you to upload it. But you already knew that, right?!

Everyone likes FFVIII here, except for the whining morons who constantly pick on it for having a pathetic battle system, virtually no entertaining cut-scenes, terrible dialogue, awful characters, boring music, dull environments and irritating bosses.
