A friend of mine has fallen for the April Fool's day joke from that magazine, he's still trying to unlock them in this day and my other friends and I don't feel like telling him.

Actually, EGM doctored those screenshots and announced in a later issue that not only was it a hoax, but that it'd gotten enough silly e-mail response that they celebrated with a whole section of letters from perverted little kids concerning the "cheat." People believed it for ages. What was that about your friend, again?

The thing is SSBM is such a fun game that people are just ready to believe that there are more characters. I'm hoping another Smash Bros. will come out with at least as many unlockable characters as in Marvel vs. Capcom 2.

My poor sister fell for that Sonic and Tails one. I never heard about the Toad one untill I came across this thread.
No really... there is... kinda. It's not really a topless 'mode', but more like you get to view your girl naked. The trick has something to do with certain bikinis and viewing her at the right angle when she's lying on the chair at the poolside. I'm not kidding. I haven't tried it myself yet, but the code is at IGN and they test their cheats out beforehand I believe.
