Default We are no better than they are.

I've been hearing, and watching alot on the Prisoner Abuse scandal. And I can come to one conculsion. America is no better than Sudam. We are suppose to lead by example. By this acts of vulgar, we have downgraded ourselves. What are the other allie countries thinking? America is suppose to be the best country in the world! Now we are on the same level as Iraq, and Cuba. I hope the soldiers, that were involved in tese acts, get punished. This is an absolute disgrace, to America, if it was up to me, I'd kick'em out the country.

"America" didn't do those things. The soldiers who did those things in that prison also did nothing on the scale of what Saddam did. Saddam killed tens or hundreds of thousands of people, and harmed countless others.

Your analogy is ridiculous. Our allies probably think the same thing they've always thought. Find me a country where no citizen ever commits murder, or rape, or any other crime.

Saying America is all bad because some among us tortured some prisoners is like saying that all Arabs are bad because Saddam tortured prisoners.

Oh wait... that's what a lot of people think, isn't it?

    Imagine that.

Yeah, but the tortures not only happen in Iraq prisons...

I agree with Dr. Unne. I'm an american myself, and I don't go around raping innocent people or doing horrible things like what happened to the victims in the Prisoner Abuse Scandal. Like Dr. Unne said, there is evil in every country, that's just life.

I undoubtly agree! All we did was humiliate them, and some of the soldiers ''killed'' some of them. But you see, are treatment of them is far better then if you were to be captured by a Iraqi militant. Like that nic berg, that got his head sawed off, and he wasnt even a soldier but a civilian contractor!!

Sadly, it's the bad people in a society that seem to create the image of the entirety.

A sort of parallel question, who was worse, Stalin or Hitler?

For some reason, for years upon years, Stalin was revered in Russia and much of the world, yet killed at least triple the amount of people that Hitler did. Only know, almost four decades or so years after his death, is he being villified correctly for being just another corrupt dictator.

I believe this is happening now in Iraq. Saddam did terrible, horrible things. Things that most of us cannot even fathom. He killed millions, I believe, of his own people. Yet, for a while, he was looked over, by much of the world. Only in the past few years was he really viewed as terrible and horrible. Only now, has he been villified.

As for the troops who did these terrible acts, yes, they certainly made America look terrible, but I do not believe that every soldier in Iraq is raping and humiliating Iraqi prisoners. It's the soldiers who suffer from this more than anyone else. The deeds of the few, no matter how terrible, shouldn't represent an entire nation.

HOWEVER, if it is proven that these commands came from the US Government, then your argument holds much more weight A-S. We shall have to wait and see what the future investigations bring, before we know enough to draw conclusions.

    Take care all.

Do we really need another topic on this? Like I said before, we're just beating a dead Iraqi prisoner horse.

This is starting to get stupid. Can someone lock this topic? If someone has to express his opinion, there is a topic about it.

Let's talk about something else. Someone can do a topic about how, despise all our differents, WE ALL LOVE FLUFFY BUNNIES!!! Specially cooked.

    Absolutely.

But as has been said, this topic's already been done several times, so it should be confined to those threads. [q=DocFrance]Do we really need another topic on this? Like I said before, we're just beating a dead Iraqi prisoner horse.[/q]*Nominates DocFrance for the 'Bad Taste' award*
