I don't tend to eat bagels. And whenever I do eat them, they're usually not near a toaster with which to toast the bagels. But toasted bagels = :D

If you can get them fresh, that's the best. But once they've cooled, you have no choice but to toast them. They need to be HOT, and a microwave will just make them all nasty.

And, yeah, I prefer cream cheese to butter.

Now, everyone here who hasn't had or doesn't like bagels is CLEARLY anti-semetic. There's no other possible explanation.
