I'm still taking it as a threat. If someone comes up to me on the street and says, "You deserve to be shot," I'm not going to risk anything. I'm going to defend myself by making sure that this man is not able to shoot me.
I understand why this is not such a big deal for most people, but it is for me. If I so much as include the words "shoot" and "president" in the same sentence, I would be dishonorably discharged for conspiring against the government. I'm sorry for trying to enforce my morals on someone else, but this is something I feel very strongly about.

[q=DocFrance]I cannot be associated with a message board that would condone such an act as the assassination of a president.[/q]That's an extreme twisting of the forum's words. This place in no way condones any criminal act, let alone murder. The forum doesn't adopt the statements or opinions of those who post at it. Sheerpile posted a statement you took issue with; you were able to respond to that as per the usual functioning of the board. At no point did anyone threaten harm to President Bush, there was a bare expression of opinion. An opinion that many disagree with, that some understandably find repulsive, but that alone does not justify its censorship. Previously, posts have been edited to remove statements wishing harm upon political leaders. There is a difference between desiring that something happen, and believing that it is deserved.
