Default new active time battle systerm poll

i hate this new systerm cause it makes the fights descend into chaos and non rpg like, but i know many like it. did u prefer traditional ATB or this new one and do u want it in ffXII and beyond?

i personally hope not, i want lovely old school ATB back

I prefer the classic. The one in FFX2 annoyed me so much.

I like the new one. Kept me on my toes, even at high levels. The classic one gets a little boring, and you could take a nap and come back to the spot where you left off with the one from FFX.

I agree with SeedRankLou. The new system made battles a lot more fun and interesting than the old one. And besides, if it was too chaotic for anyone, there was the option of slowing it down to the old style. Or pretty close to it, I think.

I like it on wait mode so I can think before I act. Who cares if that's not realistic, I'm not in this business for realism.

I didn't find much difference between the systems in FF4-9 and FFX-2. Sure, FFX-2's battles were more fast-paced, but it's still basically the same ATB system. You can make FF4's battles just as hectic, if not more. The Job system isn't anything totally new, either, as I've already seen it used in FF3j, FF5 and FFT.

for me the best systerm ever was ff7 on recommended mode. nothing could ever top that.

my arguement is if i want a fast paced hack and slash real time rpg i go 4 zelda. ff should remain in a ff4-9 atb type thing (even slowed ffX-2 was faster then ff4-9 on active.) you should not have to touch the battle speed( i cant imagine beating ffIV completly at the fastest speed...Bahamat, odin? zeroimus big bang?)

FF7 battles qo very quickly with the fastest speed, and FF4 with the fastest speed is even faster than FFX-2. In FFX-2, slow reacting won't become a problem that will kill you during normal gameplay, but in FF4 hard type with the fastest speed, you can even lose during random battles if you don't act quickly enough. Finally, FFX-2 battles aren't in real time. It's the same ATB that's used in 4-9 with a few tweaks added.

Old style ATB for me, though turn-based beats them both.

X-2's ATB was the ultimate evil! What am I saying!? X-2 as a whole was the ultimate evil! The only good parts were the Jade songs. *loves Jade*

I loved the new system ^_^ It was way more fun than the boring turn base one, more realistic :/

exactly, those tweaks made it completly different. this is not the battle systerm ff should use and i hope they realise selling out to get non rpg likers in may make them more money but there forever be hated 4 it. lets get back to normal for ffXII thank u square. i prefer the metaphorical stat driven tactical systerms over button bashing.

Wouldn't what you want then be turn based and not any form of atb? It sounds like it. In my opinion atb shouldn't be used in rpgs. But the X-2 system is awesome.
Anyway the new system is the better than before. Its fluid and the charecters change positions on the field. I still found some flaws in it though and if square is gonna use the same system then I hope they fix them. But the flaws are pretty negligible.

Nope, ffx-2 was too quick and you couldn't turn the quickness off to a sensible level. Could't realy think

FFX-2 was just too damn quick. It turned the it into an action game, instead of the steady, paced out balance found in some of the earlier games. Who gives a damn about Chain links anyway. We want to kill the opponent in the flashiest way possible, not bash X until you find out in, what, Chapter 4, that doesn't work against the bigger bosses. FF battles need to be thought out and planned, not bounced around like a ball on adrenaline pills. Not Square Enix's best move, I can assure you that!

In fact, I just hate the ATB in its entirety. FFX got the CTB system bagged so damn well that I can't bring myself to like the ATB anymore. CTB is the way forward. The future is bright; the future is CTB, mark my words. And dressphere animations are just so...damn...unnecessary...that...they...make...me...use...lots...of...full...stops.
    My really, really tiny sig.
