If you talk to Wakka on the second day on the island, he says, "Me an' Tidus are going to go to the secret place," or something like that. He pronounced it tee-dus, which creeped me out.[/qq]What really creeps me out is the idea of Wakka saying, "Me an' Tidus are going to go to the secret place". Too many bad mental images there.

According to reliable sources, though, "tee-dus" is the correct pronunciation of his name; it's been that way since before the release of FFX. "Tide-us", I believe, was just more comfortable for Western readers because of its familiar sound and because it suggests a link to natural phenomena, kind of like Cloud and Squall.
