Too Easy!!

I dont like the bosses to be too difficult to beat, because I'd rather have story progression than a challenge.

I COMPLETELY agree, Abominatrix. That's WHY I play games like the 'Final Fantasy' series, because I love going through the story with the characters - kind of like an interactive movie. Sometimes challenges are fun, but when they get TOO challenging, it's just like, 'Come on, come on, I want to see what happens next !'

I can understand that some people want a story AND a challenge, though.

*Raises hand* I always have Auron out during boss battles because of his high HP count. Also, the first rule of every FF is to cast Protect and/or Shell on your strongest character at the beginning of every boss battle.

And in this game, Protect and Shell actually do something.

lol yeah i did and i was still flatterned because cross cleave and total anhilation were after each other and i was unprepared. the average party at this point would only have auron surviving unless u cured after cross cleave pretty fast and he kept using zombie and full life to annoying full effect. i only died three times here (once on evrae and once on a king behemoth so i died 5 times on this game first time) but seymour Flux was definitly harder then any boss after him.

FF8 is easy as crap compared to FFX.
And if you want challange in FFX... MONSTER ARENA AND DARK AEONS+PENANCE FOR GODNESS!!!!!!

Most every game's difficulty depends on the players abilities and how much they level up. Obviously if you're super leveled (VIII excluded, to a point) with all the ultimate spells/weapons/armors, you're going to breeze through most any boss in the game. In X, they at least had, like many have mentioned, the ultra-difficult optional bosses. I hate those friggin monster capture things. ARGH!

Hmmmmmm... that I will try out after I finish FFIX (and check out the Excalibur II thing) on my second play. A solo Squall + no leveling. Oh well, this is not the FFIX or FFVIII forum...

Haste helped some, but not too much. The only time I ever used Haste was when casting Big Guard, which casts Haste. Kefka had those 3 bosses before him. You know, the statue things, which were female dogs. They had so much HP. I forget how Kefka was. FF7 was easy... I think. I don't know because by the time I fought Sephiroth for the first time, my party was on level 58-ish, had all of their strongest weapons, and Cloud had Omnislash. From people that I've talked to, if you don't get the things that I got, Jenova and Sephy's forms can be quite tough, especially with Bizarro Sephiroth's Sin Harvest-like attack. I thought FF8's last bosses were quite hard. Griever killed most of my GF's and he had that attack that casted 5 trillion status effects at once. I'll admit that FFIX's Trance Kuja and Necron were darn easy battles, though. Jecht was just strong. I found no problems with him. I went the wrong way with many of my characters, too, when I fought him. Yuna didn't even know Holy, yet, and Lulu didn't have Ultima, yet, either.

Yeah, the regular in-story bosses are easy, but try beating any of the optional super-bosses like Nemesis or Penance. They are super-tough.

Penance has a buttload of HP and an attack that does like 99,999 damage if I can remember. Has anyone EVER beaten him? My best character has most of his stats between 150 and 260 and he still get whomped

yep, i,ve beaten him, ultimashadow has beaten him and many other ppl have. it is a surprisingly comfortable victory if u know what your doing though my stats are all max except luck which is 120. dont even think of taking him on without a high luck stat.

Suppose they tried to make a game that's still hard no matter how tough your characters are... imagine how difficult it'd be to complete the game for a regular player or someone on their first time through...

They did make such a game. This game is called Final Fantasy Tactics and I believe you covered the reason very few finish this game. No matter how much you level up all of the monsters level up with you. The fixed battles don't but the random battles become nigh impossible if you level up without learning decent skills to account for your enemies insane power.

We all gripe too much about the easiness but we all level up too much as well. I don't think that FF X was too easy... it was just ... user friendly in comparison to a lot of the others and especially those from FF VI and before.

With FF X there are help menus everywhere and you always know what everything does and such. The battles still require a lot of strategy and effort. There is a pretty serious jump in enemy difficulty about the time you hit Mt Gagazet and from then on you really have to know strategy.

If you just fought the storyline bosses, then yes, it is really easy. But, against those amazing Super Bosses like Penance, it makes it definetly one of the hardest Final Fantasies ever!

Also, the other Final Fantasies, in comparison to this one are really easy as well.
