I wouldn't call Cecil a depressed loner. Depressed, yes. Being forced to kill innocent people would have affected anyone with a caring soul. Being a loner, though? Not likely. He cares and worries about his companions as much as they care and worry for him, unlike Squall who just ignored everyone and acted like an ass with them for a major part of the game.

And I agree with Czanthor; Vaan doesn't look like a tough guy physically, with his baby face and all, but appearances can be deceiving. If you look at the back story that was given for him, he lost his entire family to the war. He wants to liberate the Kingdom from the invaders.

Unless we get to play and see how he acts, it's though to say if he'll be a wimp like Tidus (or worse, Edward ) or not, but from the little info we've been given so far, it looks like he'll be a much deeper character, and he may surprise us greatly.
