You can do ANY craft without joining their guild anytime anywhere as long as you have the materials, joining it only makes it so you can skill up over the 10lvl cap and get synthesis materials, many crafts make it so you have to travel throughout the world for best deals on things. So yea. Dont recommend ANY crafting unless you have 10K to even begin thinking, else its not worth it. Its in investment, it will NEVER be profitable from the start for most crafts. From the looks of it, making your own beginning staffs are always cost you more to make than to sell or buy from AH. You have to spend significant money on any craft before you can go high lvl and reap profits from the high lvl items.
