In feudal Japan they used to boil people to death that they'd captured from other armies or those in the service of another Daimyo captured in battle from all accounts its a horrifying experience to witness and you could survive 12 hours or more of boiling in extreme pain. Think of spilling boiling hot water from the kettle on your hand or foot being clumsy whilst drunkenly making cauppochino for yourself and the girl you brought back from the club (or guy) and think how much that hurts? Yeah imagine that for twelve hours all over your body? Freeze please at least you shut down slowly then fall asleep never to wake up I don't like the cold (ironic seeing as I live in England where summer is three days although this year has been rather good I know cause I actually have a sun tan) but given the choice of twelve hours of pain or the relatively painless falling asleep never to wake up of freezing and I know which I'll choose.
