trying to find some optional summons

yikes, i just restarted ffIV and one of the first things i want is bomb, mage, imp and cockatrice summons, even though i heard they suck. i,ve just spent 2 hours outside baron fighting imps and eagles looking for imp and cockarice summons and no luck.

now i dont want to spend days doing this. can i get these items before Rydia enters the story? or is the 1/64 chance of receiving the item feel like a 1/10000000? and if it takes this long 4 these, how on earth will i get the other two item summons, Rydia and Rosas strongest weapons, glass helmets, hp and mp apples and pink tails(even with alerts)? this game is very short but these items are so rare i can see this being on of the longest to master!
