    Default Chat

Sorry to cause a problem but I just thought I should bring this up. I logged into the site's chat the other day and got a message that I might be infected with a virus so off I ran to go and find a cure for it. Lo and behold, I finally found one and I used it only to find I didnt have a virus at all! Now, I guess I'd probably be a little more appriciative if I had actually had the virus because I would have stopped it as a result of the warning. As it stands it took me about two hours and then I didnt even need to have done it. As it stands there were messages in the chat for the last couple of days about some users having contracted the virus and Im wondering is the warning now just general or what? Nonetheless, isnt there some way to make the chat a little more secure, I for one would like to talk to the other members without fear of having something infect my computer.

As you see, it says topic, and is a general warning, so you probably misread The virus in question doesn't infect people over chat, but through email and P2P - the reason it's in the chat topic is because of the forged addresses used by the people with the virus match hostmasks of people in chat rather than real email addresses, so it's almost certain the people infected also visit this chat room and probably have logging enabled.

Laguna - use mIRC. It will solve ALL of you problems. Java sucks. I make fun of Java users.

Do you have a firewall? In which case you'll have to configure that to let mirc connect. Otherwise, reboot or try reinstalling Windows, since something's broken or configured incorrectly.
