    Default Weird problem

Del: That brings me to another problem
Del: Sometimes my computer acts like control or shift is held down
Del: Like, I'll type in all caps or open all webpages in new windows
Snuggles: I didn't mean delete, I meant alt
    Snuggles: But yes
    Snuggles: Hmm
    Snuggles: That's strange
Del: And highlight all the text on a page when I click one spot
    Del: Yes
Del: It's annoying when I'm trying to type something
    Del: It happens randomly
Del: I should use the help forum

So that's about it. What will happen is I'm typing and aLL OF A SUDDEN IT"S LIKE SHIFT IS HELD DOWN> or it will highlight the text I just typed and my next character would override it. I thought there was a problem with the keyboard, like a key was stuck or something but when I replaced it the issue seems to keep happening. Any thoughts?

Faulty XP keyboard drivers. Try installing the ones that came with the keyboard or download the current ones from the manufacturers website.

I usually assume a sticky key and hit the key I think is stuck a few times to unstick it Usually it's the Winkey that gets stuck on my keyboard

Internet Explorer has something called smartkeys which tries to guess what your gonna do, so for example click once in text it will think you want to highlight the word or scentence and does it for you. It also uses sticky keys for navigation so hitting backspace will make it go back a page, even sometimes when your typing.

How can I disable sticky keys/smartkeys permanently?

Nose around in Control Panel > Accessibility Options. Even if they're disabled, you likely want to go through thier settings anyway to disable their keyboard shortcuts that can activate them by mistake.

Just don't press "Shift" five times in a row, or you'll turn Sticky Keys back on.

And no, I don't think you can disable this. >_<

If you did what I just said in my previous post, you'll have already disabled that

Alternatively, hold shift for 5 seconds, to toggle Stickykeys. You can do other stuff with Ctrl and Alt too.

    EDIT:

If you did what I just said in my previous previous post, you'll have already disabled all of that nonsense so don't need to worry about it any longer

Shame that in this case, that wouldn't actually solve that problem Of course, if you'd said Gentoo instead, then it'd have been true

So there's no way to disable it, then?
