Default Best Final Fantasy To Introduce To A Newbie

So, I'm attempting to get a friend of mine into RPG's, and obviously Final Fantasy, which brings me to the question, which one should she play first?

The obvious choice would probably seem to be Final Fantasy I, but I've opted for Final Fantasy IX first because I feel it has a very user friendly style, a nice laid back plot for most of the game, and also many components that are in a lot of the other games, whilst other FF such as FFVIII with junctioning and FFX with the Sphere Grid use said features that are exclusive to their games alone.

    What's your take?

    Take care all.

FFVII. Not too complicated or difficult, and an amazing storyline.

IX was truly my first Final Fantasy and it got me hooked on the series so I recomend that you have your friend try that game first.

I can honestly reccomend FFVI. It grabs you right off the bat with a wonderful storyline, solid combat, and great characters. However, if your friend is spoiled by modern eye candy..... hmmmmm.....

I was actually debating between 6 and 9, but choose 9 because, to me, the story felt a little easier to follow. She's never played an RPG before, and I felt that FFVI might be a tad too, I suppose, studied and learned for a first game. Thanks for the input though, as I certainly agree with you about 6.

    Take care all.

RPGs will always sound like too like effort and time to someone who has never played one before. So I would go for a comparitively short FF such as 8, 9 or 10.

I suggest 9 because it's the more 'traditional' style RPG. After playing 9, I'm sure she'll be able to handle any other RPG as well without any confusion or trouble.

VI or IX. They bear quite a resemblance to previous titles in the series, so you'll know what to expect from other FF's (unlike FFVII, which had a unique style, dissimilar to that of the other games). Also, these two titles have a great pick up and play quality, that makes them great for RPG newbies.

I think IX is the the easiest to begin with.

Seems the general opinion agrees with my choice.

FFIX was, for me, the most easy to learn how to play, and easiest to explain to someone completely new to RPG's.

    Take care all.

i believe VI is the best one to start with but i suppose thats because thats the first one i beat. but still it has everything plus one of the biggest casts of characters in final fantasy, and each one is memorable.

My first FF was 7 and I was hooked with that, so personally, it's the one I'd recommend newbies to start on.

Is this signature FINALLY small enough?! (Breathes heavily) I had to shorten it to just ONE personality test result about the size of most signatures here and it was STILL too big! I repeat- (Breathing VERY heavily, murderous gleam in eyes) IS THIS SIGNATURE FINALLY SMALL ENOUGH?! AHHHHHHHHHH! (Clenches fists, eyes glow, aura of energy surrounds me, hair suddenly starts blowing in the wind generated. Hair becomes engulfed in energy and glows gold)

FF7, FF6. I wouldn't give FF9 to someone new in FF world. It's worst one of FF series, it's just too childish and easy.
