Communism in Russia was botched because those in power never let go of their power. Yes there were elections but there was only one party wich ment only one candidate. There was noone else to vote for but Stalin or anyone who came after. The problems with most governments is they start fine sticking to their ideals but after the first generation of rulers it becomes an oligarchy. The leaders should be chosen the ancient Greek way via lottery. Citizens' names are picked at random and they serve as ruler for a year. There was a legislative body that was picked in the same manor. Also no citizen couldn't serve more than once in the same office. They even had an impeachment process. I think the Greeks had one of the best forms of government ever. As for payment for you job should be based on the difficulty of you job and your performance. A good example, in america the crumy jobs like say scrubbing toitlets gets payed minimum wage if you are lucky while Mike Eisner pays himself more than any human being is worth for doing... what does he do anyway. It should be the other way around. We need the guy who cleans toilets cuz otherwise everybathroom in america would be really nasty. If they didn't who would. We take our clean toilets for granted. But I digress. I have found that more often than not, people believe communism works best in small communities or countries but is impracticle in a country as large as the US. It is my beliefe that no country can just dive into communism like diving into a pool. You have to ease into it like a hot tub. The larger the country the slow you ease into communism. Another aspect of socialism that appeals to me other than basic necessities being provided is major industries such as steel, lumber, oil, energy, etc. are controled by the governenmt. All the problems with international conglomerates we are having now would be none existant.
Why do hot dogs come in packs of ten but hot dog buns come in packs of eight?

Communism and capitalism are page fillers for textbooks, the real power lies in the hands of the Patriots.
    That's really my hair.

"Faris, Calvin; you don't seem to understand! This is not a thread about homosexuality! Girls can love Barret! Guys can love Barret! It's not gay! Barret's love is beyond any form of gay-ness. It is transcendent; like the sun and moon and stars! It's like loving God! Would you say a boy who loves God is gay? That's what I thought!

So please, don't fight. Just spead the love! And the Barret sexyness. RAWR! =D~"

Any government/social structure that could work has been tried already. There hasn't been a state yet that could create an actual communist society. I suspect none will. Utopian societies don't work. The societies that do take into account the realities of life. In the ase of communism, that reality is greed. I'm greedy. I'm one of the reasons communism wouldn't work. I suspect most others are too.

I voted no to communism, although, only 4 years ago I would have given an emphatic yes. The claim that we have yet to see true communism is as false as saying we have yet to see true capitalism. In true capitalism there would be no taxes, no government expenditures, the market would allocate resources efficiently. David Ricardo, a bullionist who wrote on taxes - said that any factors that interfere with the markets operation, including the revenue raised from taxes causes a diminished market value for goods.

America, Britain or any other industrialised nation is not pure capitalist but social-capital or previously, (1800's) mercantilist economy. Both systems are the economic synthesis via the politics, of capitalism... Just as communist Russia was the economic synthesis via politics of communism. The world will never see these systems in their pure form, as ideas must be expressed through politics, and without leaders whether they be capitalist pigs or communist dogs - are always out to take their share. As Adam Smith the moral sciences philosopher contended that humans act out of self interest and not benevolence. Even if all goods were provided under the perfect communist state, the constraint of time and allocate efficiency in logistics would limit the scale…But as we have seen the international markets, even in the closest of communist states break down as the pay-off schedule from trade is diminished i.e. the failed communist trade bloc. On the other hand, capitalism promotes international trade as the liquidity of national wealth improves as currency is demanded overseas.

Anyhow, why 4 years ago? Well by the end of high school my comrades and I wished to set up a communist party in our town. We figured that our youth and vitality was the perfect symbol of the red banner, and with the help of other like minded people our influence from city to city would grow in the younger generation. So why did altruism pack its bags and run away? We realised that Playstation 4 would not come out if we were absolutely successful in our world plan... enough to stop any left minded 18 year old, albeit, I am still very interested in the social economy and communist states – as I do concede that the market cannot provide everything, but this is another story.

    Cheers.
