wait is this a topic on what u *think* he listerned 2? or are there ff8 scenes where he is actually listerning to music on head phones or sumthin.

Actually he listened to classical music with Cid and Ward in the Garden's MD level. They generally got into big fights about who was better, Bach or Bethovan. Most people don't realize that not only did this close group jam to the symphanies nightly, but they also made up 75% of the Non-Official Rappers of Garden club (referred to as NORG, who most people thought was the actual name of a giant Shumi).
You can find out this and other information by taking the side-quest only avalible to those who have stayed awake for more than 62 hours playing FF VIII nonstop.

I think Squall's personality was suit slow and quiet, but dark melodies. Piano sonatas, for instance. He'd probably listen to things that'd help him think in peace.
I doubt he'd go in for lively, upbeat tunes.
What about contemporary stuff? I could see him listening to Tool.

i think squall was a punk rocker. i dont know why but thats what comes to my mind first.
He listened to underground Indie Rock..........and Janet Jackson (ssshhh, don't tell anyone.....but, watch his victory dance and watch Miss You Much)
no he definitly indulged in depressing gothic rock and classical epics like carmina brana and beethovens 9th. yes because i say so!
actually on second thought cloud would probably listern to the above. squall would like punk rock (as already mentioned) thats angrey but also stuff like korn and linkin park.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't really see Squall listening to music at all. He doesn't seem to be into that, given his personality. I mean, from the way he looks, I would say all the hard rock, and maybe even some classical music. But (in the beginning of the game) he's so focused on duties, and responsibility.....*shrugs*
