My favorite of all the final fantasies. Triple triad kicked you know what.
So did squalls lionheart.
Whats not to like, and please dont answer that question.
10/10
Which by the way is a perfect score.
Too big. The height limit is 250 pixels including images as well as text.
Triple Triad makes me want to stick myself with a dirty needle, and the story made my brain attempt to secede from the union, but I loved the combat system. Beating up monsters kept me in the game for a few weeks straight. I did not sleep, I did not eat, I had FFVIII.
Yeah, i agree totally with the uber-good FFVIII crew. In theory, i hate the whole battle system and such...but yet i do not. In theory, i despise the story, for it is more hole-filled than swiss cheese and old socks.....yet i do not hate the story. In theory, all the cahracters are unrelatable assholes, and i despise them....yet i do not. I love them. Like little angry fuzzy puppies....with lethal weaponry. May FFVIII long roXor my S0x0rs. Go FFVIII
i thought it was fantastic. yes, the card game did rule and i find it very addictive. i just really seemed to get into the game. i also liked the story of laguna and his buddies, i found it really interesting.
Good:
graphics
card game
junctioning/abilities (like call shop, nothing more convenient)
Most of the music
side quests
Bad:
Some music
impossible to get 'the end' (at least for me)
scenes like at trabia that go on and on and on...
7.5/10 for me

Actually, I think FFVIII is the FF with the most replay value... don't know why but that's the way I feel.Originally Posted by FFIX master
FFVIII is by far, the greatest FF game other than VII. It's just my opinion, but it was one of the best FF games ever!
there was no bad guy--the game needed seifer to be the enemy OR him to be the guy you liked who eventualy tturns it around--but they tried to have him do both and it ultimately failed
i find that a bad guy that u have a very close relationship with-e.i. a guy that has been there throughout the game is a lot more powerful than all of a sudden realizing they were on teh fourth disk and makin up all this bs about some sorceoresss from the future whos tryin to use ur gf
i liked the game--it was very romantic--and a lot of the characters had depth--but it was like they completely ignored the presence of a villain and i think that hurt the overall game
ive played it through several times and done all the trout--it was way too easy--all and all it was a solid game that could have had its problems solved by some simple brainstormin on the part of the writiers
but to put it up there as the nuber one is just sily--its def behind 6,7 and poss 10 (what does 8 have that ten doesnt? nothing.....and what does 10 have that 8 doesnt? an antogonist---not that that is important or anything)
Hmmm...was FFVIII good? To put it simple from me, yes, yes it was. I liked it. It kept me entertained for a good amount of time, but of course, there were things I didn't like:
1. Draw Magic Limited Number of said spell system: I REALLY disliked this, yet at the same time it did have its charm because you had to strategize around the spells you had activating certain stats.
2. Equipment: I like having armor, and I like a wide range of weapons, not just modifications with like 5 variations, yet it was original with the upgrading of the weapon model instead of just buying a new one all the time, and it was pretty cool how you actually had to earn it by obtaining all the required items, which at times was quite a challenge...it did still miss my armor however.
3. Enemy Levels: This is one thing I really felt was strange...the enemies leveling up along with me. I didn't like it, because it was well...kinda stupid, and it made leveling up a bit on the pointless side.
4. Enemy Variety: This is another thing...there wasn't a large variety of monsters in this game...am I the only one who noticed? Well this bugged me.
And then, the things I loved:
1. GF Ability system: I liked this, including the boost thing.
2. Graphics: No other game on the PS1 pushed its capabilities THIS far...not even FF9, which was weird cause it kinda downgraded from 8. I was very impressed, and to this day the opening FMV astonishes me and is the very best opening cinema of any game ever to date IMO.
And then the things I didn't hate, but didn't really care very much for either:
1. Chocobos: Well, this game didn't use the chocobo much at all...other than riding to avoid fights and to reach certain places over shallow water, they were useless.
2. Limit Breaks: I thought the critical condition, continuously press O was pretty strange.
3. Story: I dunno...its story just didn't capture me like other FFs tend to, but it wasn't horrible like so many say it was.
4. Characters: yet again, I just didn't find the characters captivating like they tend to be in other FFs, but none of them were overly annoying like, say, Tidus was at times.
Everything else was pretty much satisfactory...overall, I liked the game, and I'm pretty sure the reason so many 'hate' it is due to the fact that everyone seemed to love FFVII (including me), and then had such high expectations for FFVIII that when they played it they were dissapointed and let down because it wasn't as legendary/similar/whatever, on top of the fact that FFVII was most peoples first game played in the series. I must admit, I too was dissapointed because I was expecting so much more after FFVII, but not to the point where I ended up hating the game...I still liked it reguardless, its just not nearly as legendary or fun and captivating as its predessor.
So overall, a good game...on a scale of 1 to 10 I'd give it about a 7.5![]()
I like Kung-Fu.
Its a very nice, well, rounded game. Although not my favorite, but still awesome
