    Default Musical Mishaps

Recently I've been having problems with the music in game. Sound effects and the likes are working perfectly fine, but the music itself often skips around and it's rather annyoing. Usually I just turn the music off because of this, but I would like to be able to find a solution. It happens most often in Bastok and the Gustaberg region.

    Anybody have any suggestions?

What system are you gaming on? PC or PS2?

Ok, next question... What are your system specs? OS, Memory(RAM), Graphics card, CPU, Sound Card, PSU, etc... And, has this always happen or did it just start doing it out of the blue or because you messed with any settings?

It popped up like this out of the blue and I didn't change any settings.

I'm running on a Dell Dimension 8300 series with:
Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002
    1024 RAM
    NVidia GeForce FX 5600
    Pentium 4 3.00GHz
    Creative SB Live! Series (WMD)

My connection is with SBC Yahoo DSL.

Hmmm. Try updating your soundcards drivers if you haven't already. If that doesn't work, I have no clue what it could be and you should either contact Square-Enix, search more FFXI sites for troubleshooting, or just re-install the whole game and prey it works. If it doesnt fix after re-install then it's your PC for sure, and I would highly recommend contacting Square-Enix about this problem. Sorry I cannot further help you on this problem as I have never encountered any type of problem like this. Best of luck! :mog:

Mine happens the same way, but it only seems to happen in zones that have alot of ppl like Lower Jeuno. Maybe its lag?

I get it in the Jungle and in Jeuno. I figure it's lag since there's so much happening in battle, I just ignore it. Unless my computer catches fire I'm not going to obsess over it.

My music has never skipped no matter how much lag is going on. Score 1 for PS2. ;p

I was also thinking it might possibly be lag as it's worst in Bastok which is always run over with people. It rarely happens in any other area though, except maybe Gustaberg. I've decided not to worry about it. It's not something that I care enough about to uninstall and reinstall my game for.
