Default What's The Deal With Auron's Left Arm and The Scar On His Rigth Eye? (Spoilers)

I've always wanted to know...why does Auron have his arm the way he does...why doesnt he just put it in the sleeve? Also, his scar on his closed eye is wierd...i figure he got them both from battling Sin along with Jecht and Braska...but then why didnt Braska or Jecht have any scars, or injuries...also, i remember Rin asking Auron how he was able to get up and walk away from his house after he had help heal him...he said that a normal man wouldnt have been able to just get up and lave like that.

(SPOILER)Auron went through the whole thing with Jecht turning into a fayth and Auron summoning the final aeon and Sin being defeated, temporarily. Auron, in a rage, went back to Yunalesca, I think knowing that what he had just went through was in vain. He attacked her, and she struck back. He was mortally wounded, and he made his way back to Mt. Gagazet where he found Kimari. He asked Kimari to find Yuna in Bevelle and take her far away. Somewhere along the line, Rin finds Auron. Despite Rin's care, Auron dies, but because of his ties to the world, he remained an unsent. That's why when you visit the Farplane, Auron doesn't go in, and when Yuna is sending Seymour's father, he is in pain, because he is being sent as well, but he's fighting it.

I believe Auron's look is based around the premise of something called a Ronin, a certain kind of Japanese warrior. Someone else would know more about that.

I don't know much about the term other than it was used in an old X-Files episode to describe "a samurai without a master." In other words, a mercenary for hire. I'm not sure how that fits in with Auron's look though

As for the arm, although it looks like its in a sling, he does use it now and then, and it seems to work fine. I don't know if this means that its injured but he can use it if necessary. Either way, I would guess that any injury he has, including his arm, is a result of his confrontation with Yunalesca.

The arm thing? Naw, that's no injury. It's just to show that he's cool.

My guess is, that his scars and age came either from his time in the Dreaming, OR that he somehow manipulated his own looks. I mean, c'mon, fiends are Unsent, but they were humans once, and Auron's Unsent, and he just turned a bit greyer.

I read somewhere A Ronin warrior is a samurai without a master like said. Auron was there to protect Braska and when Braska died he lost his purpose and his master so he became a ronin warrior and one of there looks is a lil bottle thing on there side and there arm slinged like Auron. His arm isn't hurt :\ or else he would be swinging his sword around with it ^.^. Someone esle might come along with better explanation.

It should be noted that Ronin is an awesome Robert DeNiro flick.

I think Nait's got the arm thing right. It's more of a fashion statement than anything else. It's all part of his look. He wouldn't look half as cool if he had his arm in the jacket instead of just having it hang off his back.

i keep trying to find it(its probably in the guild...but im to lazy to find THAT in my mess of a room),but i believe i read somewhere that the jug called Sin.It would make sense in a way.He did hold it up to Sin at the begining of the game...But then again, wouldnt explain why he drinks it:S i dunno.

A ronin is indeed a masterless samurai, however that has nothing to do with his style of fighting. I cant think, offhand, of any historical figures who use the limp-armed style, particularily with a weapon as large as a nodachi, but Auron's arm does seem to work just fine. He may just be doing it to make himself seem weak, hence putting his enemey offguard, or perhaps just a 'fashion statement' as has been suggested.

Ronin's do not have a set style of fighting. They can fight anyway they choose, they simply don't work for a shogun or a particular master.
