Yea if your going to go Fishing, invest in all the fishing gear and composite rod, bamboo works fine at first, but if your going to dab into higher lvls, composite is the way to go.

Lu Shang quester is in Port SanDoria and around the port fishing, if you see him you can activiate the quest, trade him 10,000 moat carps, and gain the legendary Lu Shang rod. It is THE best rod ever, better than composite, even though it can still break. Hence why many people that do fishing, also lvl woodworking to a high lvl so they can repair their own rods with a Light Crystal.

Dont use the rig, if you lose the bait and break the rod, there goes your rig...i dont think i will even think of the rig before i get high enough skill lvl to not lose the rod easily.
