Yeah, S/Ziegfried doesn't actually die, but that was the only swordsman beside Leo and playable characters that I could actually think of. Anyway.
Not counting the times you use them (either via the magic command or the magicite item), name all the times you see Esper sprites on the Battle Screen?

In the gate to the Esper World, when it's opened by Terra
In the Blackjack, when Vector is attacked by the espers
In Thamasa, When Kefka is attacked by some of them

Seven times, you forgot Tritoch in the World of Ruin...uh...unless he only counts once. And...err...do summoned Espers count, too?

Read the question carefully. I said using them via the Magic command (summoning them) and using the magicite item did not count. But yes, we see Espers 7 times.
- Tritoch with Terra, Vicks, and Wedge at the beginning.
- After the battle Narshe when Terra Morphs for the first time.
- Battle against Ifrit and Shiva in the Magi-Tek Factory.
- When Terra opens the gate to the Esper World.
- On the deck of the Blackjack when the Espers attack Vector.
- In Thamasa when Kefka captures them.
- When you fight Tritoch in the WOR.
