moore hates america, and he plans to get everyone to hate america with his horrible movie.
What? Have you even SEEN the movie? That most certainly is NOT his intent. It is quite clearly not an "America bad" movie, far from it, and I hate it when people say this. It isn't anywhere close to it, really. The only thing it promotes hatred of is Bush and the Bush administration. They aren't the whole of America.

...please don't beat me up... my friends have done cruel things to me because i'm not a liberal... *runs away*
And as been said many times in this thread MOORE DOES NOT CLAIM TO MAKE DOCUMENTARIES. They're OPINION PEICES. And no, he does not lie. Yes, he does paint his side favorably and the otherside not-so-favorably. Because that's his opinion. It's up to us, as intellegent human beings, to see both sides of the argument before claiming a stance on the issues.

And he doesnt hate America. Why does everyone blindly assume that if you arent agreeing with what your country does, you hate your country? I dont agree with the war, that doesnt make me unpatriotic. One of the beauties of this country is freedom of speech, and freedom to critisize the government. If we blindly accept everything that's going on because it's 'the American thing to do', then that's just idiocy. Whatever side of the issue you stand on, it doesnt make you a hater of your country. It makes you a person with an opinion.

I'll quote Moore on that one:

I've also seen Moore say things about how he likes America and about how great a country is. If I can find them I'll post those quotes too.

One would think that if Moore really hated America he wouldn't be living here anymore. It's not like he doesn't have the means in which to leave.

Endless i dont think that proves Micheal Moore hates America, i think it actually further proves how much he wants America to change. I think he makes these movies(*refuses to call them documentaries*), because he wants to show America the side that isnt often heard or reported to the media, for their eternal fear of sounding to liberal.

Once again its the republicans fault, they programmed their supporters to beileve that if u open ur mouth to critize for change in government, the way things are run, and what-not, then u must hate America and everything about it, especially little Timmy playing over on James St. Its the evilest tactic ever used, but it keeps the Republicans, Republican. Little do they realize however, America was built upon freedom of speech, and the founding fathers ALL questioned the government, we even had an entire change of American gov. once, thats right this is the second one.

So in conclusion isnt it really UnAmerican to NOT exercise ur right, freedom of speech and speak ur piece, for/against what the governemnt does?

I say American's are dumb all the time. With our track record, we are. We do dumb things. That doesnt mean I hate America. That's like saying that, if I think the actions of a Mexican I know are dumb, that I'm racist and I hate not only all Mexicans, but Mexico itself.

It's a ridiculous scare tactic, and it's been around forever. In the 50's, if you disagreed with the government you were an unpatriotic communist. Now if you disagree the goverment, you hate America and are probably a terrorist.

I must say it is rather effective. Has anyone ever seen the "Waving the Bloody Shirt" post Civil War article? It was vicious, it basically blamed the entire Civil War on the Democrats. It took several terms before a Democratic presidential hopeful was able to be elected, after much reform to the party.

Moore is full of contradictions. He hates the "big fat rich white men", but he lives with them and is one himself. He's all about supporting the teachers, yet asks $40,000 to make one speech at the Lincoln’s Pershing Center (University of Nebraska-Lincoln), taking up one third of the school’s annual budget for speaker’s fees, a budget paid entirely out of student tuition. He's all about people and against the big corps, but said about the small businesses in Flint: "F___ all these small businesses - f___ 'em all! Bring in the chains! The small businesspeople are the rednecks that run the town and suppress the people. F___ 'em all. That's how I feel." He said about the war: “I pledge to never vote again for any Democratic candidate for public office who has voted in favor of George Bush’s war in Iraq.” (that's from the peace pledge on Moore's site), but supports Kerry, from whom we have this little bit: Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry said on Monday he would have voted for the congressional resolution authorizing force against Iraq even if he had known then no weapons of mass destruction would be found.

Taking up a challenge from President Bush, whom he will face in the Nov. 2 election, the Massachusetts senator said: “I’ll answer it directly. Yes, I would have voted for the authority. I believe it is the right authority for a president to have but I would have used that authority effectively."

Moore is good at throwing criticism, but do you hear him suggesting anything constructive? Good luck on that one.

And, like with what Moore says, take it with a grain of salt.

Wow, this thread is full of infinite wisdom. People who critisize Micheal Moore's actions and personallity instead of his movie are GENIUSES! I especially agree that Micheal Moore hates America. I heard on his official website that he plans to release the movie in Cuba, China, and North Korea to promote anti-American sentiment. After all, the best way to judge a movie such as this is by things that he did 10 years ago.

Actually, I'm being sarcastic. Whether or not Micheal Moore asked for 40000 dollars to do a speech is absolutely irrellevent. It doesn't change his movie AT ALL. People voted for G.W. despite the fact that he was a coke-head alchoholic, so why does it matter for Moore? I do not understand, someone please tell me.

Because it's a thread about Moore and not about F9/11?

True, but people are trying to link these things to the movie, which is what my whole post was about.

Um...still, I frankly don't care about what Moore does with his private life. He is fat and warns us of overcosnumption...so? Like...does it really mean his points are wrong? Must he look like Brad Pitt?

I don't know, all this "he did this" and "he did that" is a rather childish way of attacking his points. Actually, most of those anti-Moore sites don't bring his points down (They do weaken them, though).

maybe im just losing my eye sight, but i don't recall seeing moore say that he hated america in either of those quotes. In fact, i didn't even notice that incenuation. (sp?) but of course, you are free to do the same thing you accuse moore of doing: using invalid and distorted points to prove your point of view.
