Thread: Final fantasy 11 on Dial-Up

Default Final fantasy 11 on Dial-Up

Does anyone use dial-up for this game. I know it is not recomended but it is all I can afford now.

Is there a lot of lag?

How long will it take to download updates?

it takes 4-5 hours for the intial update, but after, it take 30-40 minutes for each update

From what I understand, online gamers experience remarkably little lag on dial-up...sometimes less than those of us with broadband.

They play about the same i'm guessing. I'm on broadband and I get disconnected enough I swear i'm on dial-up. Stupid servers. -.-

It takes 4-5 hours with DSL. At least it did for me.

I'm positively surprised how FFXI seems to be dial-up friendly.

Hmm well it only took me an hour on cable for the initial update but mine was for the PS2 and had many of the features already installed.

When I installed my game on my new computer in April, the download was 7+ hours on DSL. Since then I have experienced at least another two hours of downloads. My DSL may not be up to the cable standards, but it's still a hell of a lot faster than Dial-up. You're in for a rough ride as far as downloads go.

But because FFXI brings everyone's speed down to 56k in game, you'll be perfectly fine when you're in.

With 56K AOL(they suck so this might not be accurate) took me 13-5 hours to d/l patches...i hope maybe your 56K is more BETTER as to not d/c me for no reason. Cable? 1 hour max. ^^

Speed? I actually noticed no difference...

hmmm... The download time would piss me off but since I tend to go online around 8pm when my family dosen't want anymore phone call for the night and since lately I tend to go to sleep at 2 in the morning I see no problem.

BTW Is it pretty easy to install the HD for the PS2???

It connects to the network adapter and slides into the back of your PS2. Besides making sure everything is set correctly it's simple. I think it took me 5 minutes, tops to install my harddrive.

It took me around 1-2 hours to upload everything. And a few minutes for an update, I have Broadband *cable* and I have it for the PS2. If your comp. Isnt great then it's going to lag. I'd just get high speed.

Deeds, you don't know what you're talking about. Connection speed doesn't matter because it lowers everyone's speed to 56K or thereabouts. My experience has proved that people with 56K actually get d/ced less. The only drawback is the long download times.

The only lag is when your video card isnt the recommended specs, i know mine isnt so thats the only time i lag, or the other time its when Lower Jeuno is FULL of people or when theres at least 3 other parties battling/spamming abilities.

Why not just put the filters up that block stuff from people outside of your party. I'm sure that would help.
