dumb newbie questions from a dumb newbie

these questions are pretty dumb so dont laugh at me

1. when the characters level up, is it like the same level up system used in other ffs (except X) or do you use the levels for the dress sphere, sort of like ffX?

2. what is the point of having all of those dress spheres(the actual dress sphere grid thingy)? shouldnt one be enough? or is it so you can get those bonuses when u pass through those coloured things?

i hope these questions are making sense!

3. and when you learn abilities, thats sort of like GFs learning abilities in ff VIII, right?

1. Yes, you gain levels through experience like the previous games.

2. The point is so that you can change into a different job mid battle. HP low? Change into the White Mage. Need a defensive boost? Switch to the Dark Knight, etc.
