I do agree that newbie threads are often ignored by most EoFFers, but the fact is that once you've welcomed a dozen people or so, there's very little new that you can say, and your replies feel a little meaningless. It's hard not to feel a little silly if all you can say to a newbie is 'Hi, and welcome.' Perhaps that's the cause of some of the spammy replies we get around here.
Yep, I see your point, but how many completely new to inet people comes to forums: 1 in the month or in the year? And yes, people get bored by posting to n00b threads, but still those are introduction threads and when treated accordingly, introduce people. “Hi!” isn't introduction and even an answer to introduction. That's my opinion.
