Thread: Fair and Balanced, view of the right wing.

  1. #1

Default Fair and Balanced, view of the right wing.

This forum is a place to debate whether or not the media is right wing/left wing or impartial . Well atleast we'll be able to agree its not the last one .

My first piece of evidence from Moveon.org where i obtained a copy of their complaint filed to the FTC, about the Right Winged propaganda that has been spewed from fox on a show that is supposedly showing the view of Left/Right and Inde.

    http://cdn.moveon.org/content/pdfs/ftc_filing.pdf

Ok so now u can go on to ur conservative sites and try and prove me wrong.

Note: This site is completely democratic, and expresses views of removing Bush from office, light hearted Rep. need be aware, u may realize the error of ur ways and vote for Kerry after visting.

    EDIT: Gotta add another link
Windows Media Player Format - http://http.dvlabs.com/carolina/Trailer_A.wmv

    Quicktime Format - http://http.dvlabs.com/carolina/Outfxd2/Trailer_A(Med).mov

The media is basically moderate/leftist, and always has been. Why? Because the purpose is to question the government, and the idea of more public involvement is, typically, a leftist ideal. I get tired of people harping on how the media is partial to one side or the other. Now, if you're reading the editorials and mistaking them for news, that's a different story altogether.

Its funny how people think fox news is propganda, when the news channel shows both sides of things, with a fair and balanced view. And when most of the media is mostly liberal, and the only one that is not is fox news...

I've seen a lot of conservative talk shows and stuff too. They're media too, right? Media is either left or right leaning, depending on who you watch. That's kinda evading the question though.

I read newspapers. Those are usually the best at remaining impartial. Except the editorials, of course.

there is nothing wrong with fox news being totally biased towards the moronic... err i mean conservative view point. i do agree though that they shouldn't have a slogan like "fair and balanced news" thats just laughable, and it is an insult to our intelligence.

I don't know if Bill O'Reilly is on Fox or not, but I remember seeing one show of his touted as the "No Spin Zone" when he was totally skewing every word that came out of Al Sharpton's mouth. What a *insert bad word*.

It's not dodging the question, it's the most specific generalization you can form that's still true. "The media" is too broad a term to say anything specific about. Maybe Fox News says they're impartial but are really pro-Republican; then don't watch them. I don't. They do put Democrats on the air and do give both sides of most stories, to some degree or other, so to call it propaganda is a misuse of the term, in my opinion.

Until the news is done by robots which have been programmed by other robots, it's going to be partial to one side or another in some way to some degree. Speaking of which, http://google.com/news is a nice place to get news; it has no human editors, so it's about as impartial as you're going to get on this planet.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

...oh wait, you were serious there?

Anyways, jokes aside, Fox News does tend to have a definite rightist slant. But since you know that, you can always choose to watch a news medium that is more suited to your tastes. There's right and left-wing media all over, just pick the ones you like and stick with it. You might also try watching/listening to both, it might broaden your horizons. I know it did for me (instead of thinking that just Republicans are liars, I now know that EVERYONE is a liar!)

Actually the only shows I watch on Fox News is Bill O'rielly, Hannity and Colmes, and thats it.Hannity and Colmes there only a liberal anchor and a conservative anchor. The rest is basically scott petterson or kobe bryant. And its like wtf. Fox news. Then I switch it over to CNN, and watch whats happening through out the world, and in the middle east. Goto www.foxnews.com, www.cnn.com and www.military.com.Especially on msnbc on the kind of questions they have, and if you ever notice when there having a debate most of the people are liberal and there is like 1 conservative guy there.

Oh, and I dont have enough time to look at every news source since I do have a life.

I'd like to remind everyone to be respectful, or I'm going to start banning people from this forum (again). Thanks.

I dont know what show ur watching, because whenever i turn on my television to cnn, fox, and msn,
I never get anything, but conservative Presidents views. They dont really do reporting anymore they just quote whatever the President says, and dont question it at all, they just quote others questions. And if nobody with any power has any questions then they just report what the conservatives say. When it comes to debates i never see any on cnn that invovle anymore people than the Anchor, the right wingst, and left wingst. Except on Crossfire, where they only have they same number of right and left wingers, and maybe inside politics which i dont watch so i wouldnt know.
