Thread: Put together a playlist.

Default Put together a playlist.

Don't make it too long - and it'd be cool if it could reflect a particular feeling, mood, or setting. I'll start out with one - not too sure of the flow or the diversity of the tracks, but it's a start.

Drink and be Wistful

1. Augustus - Parlour (www.augustusmusic.com - free downloads)
2. Led Zeppelin - Since I've Been Loving You
3. Radiohead - Talkshow Host
4. Third Eye Blind - In The Background
5. Pearl Jam - Light Years
6. Rob Dougan - Nothing at All
7. My Two Friends - Oceans (www.mytwofriends.com - download this song!)
8. Nancy Sinatra - Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)
9. Evanescence - My Immortal
10. Radiohead - Exit Music (For a Film)
11. Third Eye Blind - God of Wine
12. Robert Randolph and the Family Band - Smile (www.robertrandolph.net)
13. Coldplay - Everything's Not Lost

Where do I put this?
Billy Joel - Pianoman

Notes:
1. The reason I choose #1 is the lyrics - makes you just sit down, pour yourself a glass of scotch or bourbon, and just reflect on whatever's been going on recently.
2. #2 is just a great "I'm damn tired, it's late at night, and I need a drink" type of song.
3. I don't know if #3 should be in there, really.
4. #4/#5 need to go together, I feel - The Background gets kinda intense towards the end, and Light Years, although a strong song, kinda diffuses that intensity - perfect for the Rob Dougan song coming up.
5. At least one of #8-#10 could stand going, or at least be replaced. I can't think of anything for it so far.
6. Perhaps God of Wine should be moved higher up in the louder, more assertive songs.
7. I wanted to end on a bit of "good" wistfulness - you don't want to be drunk AND depressed. Both #12 and #13 are excellent choices for getting the job done, though I'm sure more are familiar with the Coldplay song. The Robert Randolph one is also stunning, though, so I put them both in.

This is my playlist of the best country love songs. ^^

1. Remember When - Alan Jackson
This tells the story of a man, looking back on his marriage, and all of the good times he's had.
2. Annie's Song - John Denver
The imagery in this song is amazing. Anything by John Denver is great.
3. From Here to Eternity - Michael Peterson
I want this song to play at my wedding. It's the story of a guy's proposal, and promising that he'll be there from here to eternity.
4. You Were Always on my Mind - Willie Nelson
Willie doesn't have the greatest voice, but anyone else singing this song would make it absolutely wonderful.
5. Forever and Ever, Amen - Randy Travis
Just a cool song.
6. Unanswered Prayers - Garth Brooks
A man runs into his old high school flame, who he prayed to have, but that prayer was answered, and he realizes now that the greatest gift was this unanswered prayer, which gave him his current wife.
7. Amazed - Lonestar
This song crossed genre borders, and there is no reason any country-hater should not love this song.
8. I Cross My Heart - George Strait
From the movie "Big Country" (though I've never seen it). It's a neato song, though the verses go up too high for me to sing.
9. When You Say Nothing At All - Keith Whitley
Great song. Talks about the emotional, not communicational, relationship between a man and a woman.
10. It's Your Love - Tim McGraw
The best part about this duet is the fact that it's about Tim and his wife, Faith, and just by watching them and hearing the song, you can tell how in love they are.
11. El Paso - Marty Robbins
It is teh ub3r l337. This song from 1964 tells the story of a man who loved this Mexican dancer back in the wild west, and then shot a man that tried to steal her, and he fled, then came back because he loved her so much and was killed.
12. I Melt - Rascal Flatts
The butt video! A song that shows, apparently, what a little flame can make you wanna do.
13. Cowboy, Take Me Away - Dixie Chicks
Shows every southern girl's dream, a knight taking a girl away on a white horse.
14. Please Remember Me - Tim McGraw
A sad song about a man breaking up with a woman that he loves, because he knows that she is too good for him. He asks her to please remember him for the rest of her life.
15. We Were In Love - Toby Keith
A guy remembers his first love.
16. Sweet Dreams - Patsy Cline
A girl thinks that she hates a guy, but doesn't realize that she is madly in love with him.
17. The Keeper of the Stars - Tracy Byrd
Addresses the idea of fate, and that two people are destined to be together.
18. Something That We Do - Clint Black
As opposed to love being a noun, it is something that you do each day of your life, whether it being something as simple as getting the mail, or making dinner. Really has changed people's lives.
19. Huckleberry - Toby Keith
One of my favorite songs, though it was never a hit. Just a cool song with a neat rhythm.
