Contents of Crimson Spheres

I am particularly interested in CS 8 SPOILER where the three guys deside to split up and then Nooj shoots Baralai and Gippal and Paine. Why did it happen? Why did Nooj do that? Does that mean they are all unsent or something?

Nooj went beserk because he was still possessed by Shuyin's spirit, acquired during the ill-fated investigation of the Den of Woe. Collect all the Crimson Spheres and complete the side-quest to find out more

I was confused because it looked like those two were very dead
And still we see them running around no problem. So I thought maybe it was the same kind of deal as with Auron in FFX - unsent. Guess not.
