Angry OMG THIS LEVEL MUST DIE!

What level or area in a game has got you the most wound up before because it's been so tricky or annoying or just damn difficult?

My own level that must die was discovered last night while playing Toejam and Earl: Panic on Funkotron on the Genesis.

Okay, so, I had to catch all the humans on a level. But there is this really wide underwater maze. So I get to the right hand side (because you can only swim out at the right hand side), but find I have to go BACK across to the other side because I missed some humans.

The only way to get back across is to jump on these bubbles, and a few very very narrow platforms all the way across the wide underwater maze.

Now, apart from the fact that you have to get the jumps right to land on these things, keep in mind that you are using a very old Genesis controller whose left and right buttons don't work very well unless you press them HARD, and that the character moves slowly and clumsily anyway.

If you miss a bubble or platform you fall INTO the water, and you can't just climb out, oh no, you have to swim underwater through a maze and back up to the other side. You die if you are underwater more than 40seconds unless you find these special fish that give you air.

So it's a matter of swimming through the maze (again a slow experience due to the character/controller), make sure to find the fish on your way and then get out and try the bubbles again.

I fell in that water at least 8 times, feeling myself getting more and more annoyed ready to give up or throw that controller (although I wouldn't because I don't wanna make it worse than it already is). So I kept to just swearing at the game.

Eventually I realised I could let myself die once and get back to the beginning of the level. However then I found that the humans I had to get were on small platforms above the huge water area, so I fell in AGAIN.

Anyway I did it in the end, because of course I couldn't give up till I did, but I don't think any level or area in anything has made me so mad before.

    How about you?

But then a man came and killed them I thought the man was going to kill me so I killed him and I went further and now I'm stuck again...

I don't see what the complaints about the water temple are, it's easy.

Lower the water to the bottom, raise to middle, raise to top, lower, middle, top, repeat until you have enough keys and the hookshot.

That and you have a freaking map to help you as well, what, you don't even look at it?

I mean come on! Dark Link? So, even if you don't have the Biggoron Sword, or realise you can use Megaton Hammer he's still easy enough with the Master Sword, you just have to be very quick and careful.

    Eh.

Viewtiful Joe, The Magnificent Five, the four bosses you've already faced plus a new insanely hard boss, with minimal VFX available to use fancy new moves. OH GOD.

Donkey Kong Country 2, Toxic Tower, it's not so much that the level is hard, it's just that it's filling up with toxic water, and you have to be insanely fast to reach the bonus barrels and the DK Koin in time before you're decimated by the nasty water. Oh, and Screech's Sprint, getting the DK Koin AND beating the level in time is impossible, add to the horror of beating an evil parrot in a speed race the fact that all the walls of the level are damaging bramble bushes.

Still, despite those, DKC2 is my favourite game ever.

I think you should specify "Adults" mode, there. Kid's Mode is a cakewalk.

Tinto Mines in Suikoden II, near the end of the game. Longest dungeon in the game. Just when you get through it all the first time, you have to go through it all again. *hates Mazus*

...ugh, yeah, Song of Nephilim was a pain. The random encounter enemies would totally own me, so I assumed I needed to do some mad levelling up, then I got to the bosses and they were all really easy.
