This isn't a natural occurence though, the elements have been preset by human hands allegedly in the form of several generators and two gigantic Tesla Coils which manipulated the electromagnetic field around the ship, causing it to disappear from plain sight. The ship then appeared several miles away (ie: a glitch), and then restabilized in its original position after approx 1-2 hours.

And as to the comment on the dark matter, here's to finding a safe and efficient means of stabilizing and evenly distributing the stuff in order to replace our contemptable oil based economy with free energy for everyone.
