Thread: Crafty Combos

    Default Crafty Combos

    Okay, I'm not asking for your "best" combination of materia, I'm only asking about crafty ones. Like this one:

    Weapon: Hades=Added Effect, Destruct=Added Effect, Time=Added Effect, Poison=Elemental
    Armor: Hades=Added Effect, Destruct=Added Effect, Time=Added Effect, Poison=Elemental
    Accessory:Curse Ring

    With this, you will possibly cause many different bad status to the target, including Slow and Stop. You will also protect yourself from them, and you will be able to attack yourself to heal. The Curse Ring is now ineffective, thanks to the Death protection, so you'll get a nice stats boost with no consequence (spelling?). I like to use this setup with Vincet...it just seems right, for some reason.

    You could also create combos that benefit the whole party, like:

    Character1
    Weapon: Ice=Elemental
    Armor: Lightning=Elemental

    Character2
    Weapon: Fire=Elemental
    Armor: Ice=Elemental

    Character3
    Weapon: Lightning=Elemental
    Armor: Fire=Elemental

    With this, you could have the different character attack each other, in case the one you want to use for something else is in need of healing (like if s/he has a limit break).

    Anybody else got something better (these are simple combos)?

    Default

    Final Attack=Restor/Barrier/Time/whatever
    Restore=Added Cut
    Restore=Elemental

  3. #3

    Default

    This is the combo I'm currently using to gain AP near Mideel:

    Cloud
    Weapon (Apacolypse): Slash-All, (whatever I feel like levelling)
    Armor (Rune Armlet): (whatever)
    Accessory: Fury Ring

    Cid
    Weapon (Javelin): (whatever)
    Armor (Rune Armlet): (whatever)
    Accessory: (who cares?)

    Any other character with a weapon that has four double-growth slots for a weapon
    Weapon: (whatever)
    Armor (Rune Armlet): (whatever)
    Accessory: (who cares?)

    This'll cause Cloud to automatically attack all enemies, and at level 71 with the Apacolypse, that only takes one hit . The only real reasons to use the Rune Armlet (it is Armlet, right?) instead of the Wizard Bracelet are for better physical defense and to get them MASTERed quicker individually (same goes for weapons with only four 2x growth slots). If them catipillar lookin' things are a trouble with their sleep attack, then give Cloud Seal=Added Effect to his armor, but that'll reduce you by two slots, and you should wear the Wizard Bracelet, which lowers your defense.

    Oh, is that what the Curse Ring does? I have it on Tifa right now. Oh well, sucks to be her.

    As for crafty Materia Combos...

    Bahamut ZERO+Quadra Magic
    MP Absorb+Deathblow

    Both on Vincent. I equip him with the Snipershot CR (or whatever it is) so his accuracy is at 255%, thus Deathblow never misses andhe absorbs some MP every time. Also, I can summon Bahamut ZERO, go to the bathroom, and come back just in time to see me win the battle.

    Only two HP Pluses will actually work, which is plenty if they're mastered (both at +50% makes +100%...DOUBLES YOUR HP! ). Same goes with all the "[stat] Plus" materias. Doesn't work with things like Gil Plus or EXP Plus, though (only one is allowed, and when it comes to EXP Plus, only one per character). You can equip all you want, but only the allowed number will actually work.

    (assuming they're all MASTERed and complete)
    Weapon: Master Summon=MP Absorb, Master Magic=Quadra Magic, Master Command=HP Absorb, E. Skill=HP Plus
    Armor: W-Item=W-Summon, W-Magic=Counterattack, MP Plus=Mega All (, Luck Plus=Speed Plus)

    This gives you access to EVERY Command, Magic, Summon, and E. Skill. It also lets you get some MP back when summoning, use any magic four times at the cost of one, recover a little HP when using any attacking command (even just a regular attack), boost your HP by 50%, counterattack when hit, boost MP by 50%, hit all targets with almost any attack, and if you decide to use the Wizard Bracelet for the extra two slots, it'll boost your Luck and Speed by 50% (attack more often, and have a better chance for critical hits, or better chance of hitting with D. Blow).

    ---EDIT---
    Just remembered, it doesn't give you access to Mug, but I never liked that command anyway (kept killing the enemies I wanted to steal from).

    Master Magic, Mega-All, Master Command, Deathblow + HP-Absorb, HP Plus, Contain/Hades/whatever + Added Effect in an ultimate weapon.

    Master Summon + MP-Absorb, HP <--> MP, Phoenix + Final Attack, MP Plus, Magic Plus, Enemy Skill in armor. (Ditch MP Plus and Magic Plus if you're strong enough so you can equip the six-slot Mystile.)

    Equip Ribbon.

    All Magic spells target all enemies, as does any command. Use Deathblow > to gain back HP. Normal attacks hit all enemies possibly inflicting status effects. Summon spells gain you back the MP they use. 9999MP ensures that whenever your 999HP runs out you'll revive yourself (plus your teammates) with Phoenix, never having to worry about lack of MP or number of stars. Plus Enemy Skills can put some hurt on your enemies. It's crazy.

    Course, it takes a lot of time to obtain/master them for best effect, but it's worth it. You don't even need teammates at that point. I usually equip this on Cid or Vincent.

    Doesn't Final Attack have a limit? One per star?

    Yes, it does. I once took on Emerald with Final Attack-Revive and killed my party five times and they were revived five times. I was lucky Emerald didn't hit my party a sixth time.

    I've never equipped more than one so I don't know how multiple Final attacks would work.

    counter= Mime
    master summon = hp absorb
    KOTR = mp absorb

    This combo is nearly unstopable and all you need to do is attack with KOTR and then sit back

  11. #11

    Default

    KOTR=Sneak Attack, KOTR=Final Attack, KOTR=HP Absorb, KOTR=MP Absorb
    KOTR=Steal As Well, KOTR=Added Cut, KOTR=MP Turbo, KOTR=Magic Counter

    I'd like to see this one legitly accomplished :laugh:.

    ---EDIT---
    Did some calculations. Since you can only equip one non-MASTERed KOTR at a time (because you only recieve one in the game, the rest must be born), you would need to fight 672 Magic Pots while having KOTR equip to a triple growth weapon (there is no triple growth armor). 84 Magic Pots for each KOTR. 84*8=672. That may be off a little, but it's pretty accurate. Since you can fight Movers in the same area as the Magic Pots, they should reduce that number a bit (2400 AP per Mover battle, at triple growth, that's 7200 AP).

    i must say jolts that i am impressed with your research, btw you would also have to get 672 elixers for that to work, which would mean stealing from 672 (give or tak) tonberrys

    W-Item Cheat!

    You can duplicate any item usable in battle using the W-Item trick: select the item you want to duplicate, and use it once on someone. Then, select another, useless item, but don't use it. Then cancel, and the first item you selected will increase by 1! Keep pressing select, cancel, select, cancel until you get as many of the first item as you want.

    (I didn't write down that. I copied it from a site. I would never write down how to do such a cheat method.)
